Our research support programmes
To address the key knowledge needs of the civil society sector, we organise thematic programmes to fund specific research projects, which seek to explore some of the questions or sub-themes identified. These programmes are the direct product of our working groups, gathering both actors and researchers who have pre-identified the needs of CSOs that are not (or insufficiently) covered by academia.
Through these programmes, we select the most outstanding research projects based on two criteria : 1/ the scientific rigor of the projected research, and 2/ its usefulness and concrete implementation in the civil society space.
Upon submission, every project is reviewed by our Scientific Committee and Board of Directors. This step is followed by a double-blinded peer review conducted by two specialist academic researchers. The final decision is taken by our jury, composed of members of the Board of Directors and partners of the programme.
Results from our grantees’ projects fuel the strategic visions of CSO leaders and their partners, help in the implementation of their evaluative practices, strengthen the advocacy of representative bodies, and inspire new orientations for public action.
Our programmes are open to disciplines of the social sciences and humanities capable of contributing to the construction of knowledge on civil society. These include: politics, law, sociology, economics, geography and history. Moreover, we dedicate part of our activities to the promotion of participatory research given our strong belief and advocacy for knowledge co-construction among actors and researchers.
